In 1998, Dharma Productions produced Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Karan Johar's directorial debut, which became one of the biggest blockbusters of Indian cinema. Yash Johar supported Karan staunchly, advising but never encroaching, allowing him the freedom to develop and mature. His Last Film: Kal Ho Naa Ho

Yash Johar's last production was the heartwarming and poignant Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003) starring Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta, and Saif Ali Khan. Nikkhil Advani directed and Karan Johar wrote the film, which was a showcase of Yash Johar's storytelling style — family values, deep emotions, and embracing life.

Ironically, the movie's guiding principle — about appreciating the moment since tomorrow is never guaranteed — became poignantly applicable when Yash Johar died soon after the movie's release.
