How to Prepare for an Online Audition as a Child Artist

Online auditions are a great way for young talents to shine from the comfort of home. But just like a stage audition, being prepared is key. Here’s how child artists can get ready to give their best performance online.

1. Read the Instructions Carefully:
Parents and kids should go through the audition brief together. Understand what the role is, what lines need to be learned, and how the video should be shot.

2. Choose a Calm, Bright Space:
Make sure the room is quiet with good lighting. A simple background helps the casting team focus on the child’s expressions and performance.

3. Practice, Don’t Pressure:
Encourage the child to rehearse lines naturally, like telling a story. It’s important they feel relaxed and confident, not stressed.

4. Dress Simply:
Pick neat, character-appropriate clothes—nothing too flashy or distracting. The focus should stay on the performance.

5. Record with Patience:
It’s okay to do a few takes. Make sure the camera is steady and the child is visible and audible.

Most importantly, remind your child to smile, enjoy the process, and just be themselves. Authenticity and joy are what truly light up the screen!
